Nestled amidst the picturesque Canterbury plains with the Southern Alps as its backdrop, the kitchen in this new build country-style house is a testament to timeless charm and functionality. Designed by Billy Nolan of Mastercraft Ashburton, it’s a stunning space that calls out to yesteryear yet features modern convenience.
A couple of 3-panel sliding windows, fixed flush to bench height and opening left and right, ensure full access to the panoramic Southern Alps vista.
The stand-out features of this kitchen are the beautiful wooden benchtops adorning the main bench and the island. Comprising 40mm thick laminated Yaka timber, the benchtops reflect the rustic charm of the countryside into the heart of the home. The natural timber colour sets the tone for this kitchen, while a resin finish ensures its durability ensuring it can withstand the rigours of daily life. Its design beckons family and friends to gather around for a hearty meal or a casual chat over coffee.
Supporting the benches, the classic Dezignatek Thermoform Levante Classic White cabinetry is crafted to perfection. The shaker-style doors with their Archant Classic handles in grey, exude an elegance that defines the entire space. This classic white hue creates a sense of openness and simplicity, perfect for a country kitchen with a view like this.
The beautiful butler’s sink, courtesy of Shaws, is finished in White Ceramic to complement the cabinetry. An elegant Perrin and Rowe Provence tap mixer graces the sink.
A corner nook overhead cabinet features an iconic vertical plate rack for easy access and a blue-tiled splash-back brings in a hint of colour.
From the shaker-style cabinetry to the rustic Yaka timber bench, every detail has been carefully considered to create a kitchen that’s not only aesthetically pleasing but also a joy to cook and entertain in.
