“This is long overdue, but for the last two and half years, there have been many times that I have mentally thanked you for the design improvements you made when we were rethinking the new installation. I have shared with most of our friends the specifics of what you suggested, and how each suggestion has improved the usability, access and storage of my kitchen. My sister in Tauranga recently had the kitchen in their holiday home at Kuratau redone, and was asking me about who had advised me when we did ours at home? She didn’t get to have much say in the layout, as it is a fairly small bach kitchen, and they were probably not present when the kitchen company visited to make plans. But she has been grinding her teeth ever since, with some of the stupid decisions that were made: microwave so high that it is unsafe when removing hot food, cupboard space that is out of reach, drawers that are so big that it makes it too difficult to remove something from the drawer while someone is trying to work at that bench… the list goes on. So she was very surprised when I said it was a man that had come up with the improvements for our kitchen…I think she had assumed only a man could have made such a mess of their end result (possibly aided and abetted by her husband who didn’t think her input was needed when it was such a basic kitchen!).
