Who are we?

MKS Stairs & Trade have been supplying premium kitchens, stairs and household joinery to builders, developers and homeowners in Christchurch since 2001.

The business is proudly owned by Christchurch locals: Chris and Jane Moore, and Russell Lory. Chris and Russell each have over 40 years of experience in the Joinery Industry and Jane manages our Accounts and Human Resources.

I have been happily employed in the joinery industry since 2016, initially working on the production side. In 2019 I changed tools to join the design area with Mastercraft Kitchens in Christchurch. I enjoy designing so much and embarked on a Diploma in Kitchen Design through the NKBA. I get great satisfaction from taking a project from the client brief right through to seeing a fun and functional space installed in their home. It is super exciting to see a design come to life on site, and then see how much my clients enjoy it!

Designer

Design is a true passion of mine, and I've worked in the industry since 2008, specializing predominantly in kitchen design. I studied at the Design and Arts College graduating with a Diploma in Interior Design. Although kitchens are our main focus, I enjoy nothing better than being involved in the process when we are designing for other areas of the home. From kitchens to home offices and everything in between I love being part of my client’s journey and watching their dreams become a reality.

Mike Mckenzie

Designer

My career in kitchens began as a young apprentice in production in 1995, developing through various roles and landing in design, where I excelled. Combining my creative mind with my practical experience enabled me to bring complex ideas into reality. With the introduction of digital design, and now 3D drawings, clients are able to fully visualize their complex designs to a standard that exceeds their expectations. With extensive experience in both the design and manufacturing sides I can not only design complex projects but also have the knowledge of how to construct it using innovative and practical formulas.
