Gorgeous Gourmet Kitchen

Written by Mastercraft Kitchens | 04 November 2016

Homeowners, Marc and Kelly are big entertainers and enjoy cooking gourmet food. Their brief to Mastercraft Kitchens designer Andy Moser was to deliver a spacious, functional kitchen that had a sleek modern design, to match their new home. They also wanted it to feel light and bright.

The U-shaped stainless steel benchtops, with built-in sinks, are extremely practical and durable, and also provide the contemporary edge asked for by his clients. Above the ‘peninsula’, the designer hung three large, industrial-style, steel lights that complement the benchtops below perfectly.

Kitchen appliances

To satisfy the owners’ passion for cooking, this kitchen is packed with great appliances:

  • Two, side-by-side, underbench Bosch ovens
  • A large Samsung French-door fridge-freezer
  • A six-burner gas hob by Bosch.
  • The extractor above is by Schweigen and features a high-performance external motor for maximum efficiency and minimal noise disruption.

Walk-in scullery

One of the prominent features of this kitchen is the spacious walk-in scullery, which is the size of a small kitchen in itself. Having such a large preparation and tidy-up area comes in extremely handy when entertaining, as messy tasks can be completed well away from guests.

The scullery contains another fridge and a large, double sink, each located at the ends of a long benchtop that takes up the entire back wall. This benchtop provides plenty of workspace, plus more than enough room a full array of small appliances. Above, open shelving offers easy access to plates, glassware and cookbooks. Underneath, there are drawers and more open shelving for larger items, such as platters.

Andy says it was fantastic to work with such great clients, to help achieve their ‘dream kitchen’.

Andy Moser is a Kitchen Design Consultant at Mastercraft Kitchens Tauranga.
